From the actual design to the basket weave on to the hand painted art work. I have a hard time wanting to come in the house at night after carving all day in my studio on a new project. Gun collectors and appraisers will tell you the gun has doubles and even triples in price. Some have grown even more in value. Still, all of the clients I have carved for this year tell me their gun will never leave their hands. They will be handed down through the generations. What a legacy they will leave for their children.

Custom Carved Savage 308
Custom Carved Savage 308
Just finished, a custom carved Savage 308 rifle. This is a Christmas present for a friends wife. I have carved the Hawaiian flower (Hibiscus) with an Alaskan moose. I have also included the basket weave on the forend and grip of this gun stock. I have added accents to the grip (moose horn) and forend (Hibiscus flower). All of the custom carved art work is hand painted to enhance the detail. If this gun was appraised today it would appraise for $3700.00. Gun collectors would give their eye to have this gun in their collection. I’m sure this gun will be handed down from mother to daughter.
This gun has been discontinued years ago. I have included the history of the Savage arms rifle Model 99F. I hope you enjoy reading about this gun.
History
The Savage 99 was preceeded by the Savage 1895, which was the first hammerless lever-action rifle produced. Read the rest of this entry »
Custom Carved Savage Model 99
Custom Carved Savage Model 99
Custom carved Savage Arms Model 99 is my next project. As I’m sure every gun collector knows, this gun was discontinued years ago. It is a very nice gun to shoot. Very accurate and dependable. I have been asked to carve a moose with the Hibiscus flower on this gun. This is a Christmas present for one of my clients wife. She has no idea she is receiving this gun. Many men would never think of giving a gun to his wife. Unless you are like this family. All are avid hunters and enjoy getting out and being in the outdoors. This gun will have a beautiful moose scene carved on the gun stock. It will be outlined with the Hibiscus flower. The forend and grip will have the basket weave along with something else to enhance the design. You will have to check back to see what gun stock art has been put on the grip and forend. The custom carving is all hand finished along with the hand painting that accentuates the detail of the carving. Gun collectors world wide will be envious of this gun. I’m sure it will be handed down from generation to generation. Your comments are greatly appreciated. Please feel free to leave them below. Happy Halloween! Deb

The company makes a variety of rimfire and centerfire rifles, as well as marketing the Stevens single-shot rifles and shotguns. They may be best-known for the Model 99 hammerless lever-action rifle, no longer in production, and the very popular .300 Savage sporting cartridge, which was the parent case for the .308 Winchester cartridge.

Custom Carved – Have We Lost Our Heritage?
Custom Carved – Have We Lost Our Heritage?
Have we lost our heritage? How many people have given this any thought? I for one have. While custom carving this coach gun shot gun, I began wondering this very thing. With out Wells Fargo Bank to carry on the tradition of using the stagecoachs for their advertising. We would have lost this beautiful image years ago. The old west is fast becoming lost to our modern ways of life.

The picture above is a very rough carving of the pattern to be put on the coach gun.
This is yet another reason I decided to carve the abandoned stage coach on the ICA coach gun. Not only will this custom carved coach gun preserve the memories and the history of the old west. It also adds trememdous value to any gun collector’s personal collection. This gun will be hand carved and hand painted. There will not be enough room for the basket weave pattern to be put on this gun. Is this something that you are looking for on your gun? If so please drop me a line or call me to discuss your options and what you would like on your gun.
Your comments would be greatly appreciated. Please feel free to leave them below.
Custom Carved Stage Coach Gun
Custom Carved Stage Coach Gun

I’ve started another gun stock. This gun is a custom carved stage coach gun shotgun. The last coach gun I carved was such a great success, I decided to carve another one. This gun will be carved/engraved with an abandoned stage coach. It is to symbolize how we are loosing our western heritage. I would like to be able to save our history in some way. This is my attempt at saving and sharing some of this history.
Here is a little information about this gun.
The gun stock will be custom carved and hand painted. This gun will not have a basket weave. The forend of this gun is to narrow to support the pattern. This gun will make a great addition to the Wells Fargo Stagecoach collection. I look forward to showing you the finished project. Your comments are greatly appreciated. Feel free to respond to this post below.

The gun show has proved to be a wonderful experience. I enjoyed meeting and getting to know all who came up to my booth to see the guns I had brought. Thank you very much for coming and meeting me in person. I, not only gained many new friends, but I have also gained many new ideas for carving. I will be very busy for months to come. I would love to hear from everyone who attended the show. What was your thoughts on the show?
There where many gun collectors at the Crossroads of the West Gun Show. Not to mention all of the gun enthusiasts. Many people where purchasing guns for the upcoming hunts. There was a man who had just returned from Alaska. He had been hunting fox. He was able to fill his tag with a fox that was over 6 feet long and weighted 120lbs +. Just wish he would have had his pictures with him. I would have loved to have seen them.
Many of the people where very interested in how I could repair scratches in their guns. They also where wanting to know if I could carve their companies logo on a gun for safety awards or for a special client. There where many people who enjoyed re-telling their hunting story. I suggested putting their story on the gun stock, thus giving them bragging rights as well as the ability of handing their story down to their children.
The show was really fun and informative. I am looking forward to the next one. The next gun show I am planning on attending will be the Shot Arms Show in Los Vegas, Nevada in January. This show is sponsored by the NRA. I will be adding more information as I receive it.
Pictures of all my new projects will be coming soon. Thanks again to all who was able to come to the gun show last weekend. I look forward to working with you on your gun. Thanks again! Deb

Custom Carved Browning 270
Custom Carved Browning 270
My next project in a very long line of enjoyable artwork is a custom carved Browing 270rifle. I have decided to carve a bighorn sheep on this gun. There will not be any background around the bighorn sheep. I have not decided (as yet) whether to carve basket weave or something on the forend of this gun or not. You will have to check back later to see what my decision ended up being. Here is interesting information about the Browning Rifle Company. This gun will be for sale at the Crossroads of the West Gun Show in Salt Lake City, UT. The gun show will be held September 25 & 26, 2010 at the South Town Expo Center.
John Moses Browning

(January 21 or January 23, 1855 – November 26, 1926), born in Ogden, Utah, was an American firearms designer who developed many varieties of firearms, cartridges, and gun mechanisms, many of which are still in use around the world. He is arguably the most important figure in the development of modern automatic and semi-automatic firearms and is credited with 128 gun patents. His first was granted October 7, 1879. He had made his first firearm at age 13 in his father’s gun shop.
Browning influenced nearly all categories of firearms design. He invented or made significant improvements to single-shot rifles, lever-action rifles, and slide-actionfirearms. His most significant contributions were in the area of autoloading firearms. He developed the first reliable and compact autoloading pistols by inventing the telescoping bolt, integrating the bolt and barrel shroud into what is known as the slide. Browning’s telescoping bolt design is now found on nearly every modern semi-automatic pistol, as well as several modern fully automatic weapons.
He also developed the first gas-operated machine gun, the Colt-Browning Model 1895—a system that surpassed mechanical recoil operationto become the standard for most high-power self-loading firearm designs worldwide.
Browning’s most successful designs include the M1911 pistol, the Browning .50 caliber machine gun, the Browning Automatic Rifle, and a ground-breaking semi-automatic shotgun, the Browning Auto-5. These arms are nearly identical today to those assembled by Browning in the 1920s, with only minor changes in detail and cosmetics. Nearly all parts may be freely swapped between the earliest and latest of each series of these weapons, no matter when made, which has extended their service life span nearly indefinitely.
