Gunstock Carving and Repair
Gunstock Carving and Repair
How many of us have gone hunting and in the excitement of the hunt have dropped or banged your gun? Or maybe something has scratched your gun? Well, I can help! The first two pictures you see above are of my husband’s gun. This gun looked like it had been left out in the weather for years. As you can see the gun looks like a completely different gun now. The third picture is of a gun that had several deep scratches. As you can see there are no scratches now.
I can help you with your gun too. By carving a pattern on the gun breaths new life into your gunstock, and adds value. I do not work on the barrels (bluing them, etc.). Most scratches can be repaired like the guns listed above. Looking at the before and after picture, you would think it was a completely different gun. My husband was actually gonig to sell his gun becasue of its condition. Now, however, you can’t get him to part with it. There are other guns on my web site that have been repaired as well.
If you have a gun you would like repaired. Please contact me. Also, for your information, there are many guns listed on my web site that are for sale. If you find one you would like to purchase. Contact me via email. I will be glad to help you with the purchase and shippment. Your comments are greatly appreciated. Please feel free to list them below. I look forward to working with you. Deb
Ruger 300 Mag Gunstock Carving
Ruger 300 Mag Gunstock Carving
Finished! I have never carved a moose before, but this gunstock carving has been a joy to do. The gun is a Ruger 300 Mag with a stainless steel barrel. It also have a stainless steel scope to top it off. After looking at many pictures on the internet. I found a picture of a moose I just couldn’t pass up. The carving is of an Alaskan moose. The scenery in Alaska is breath taking. I am looking forward to the day I can go visit, take my own pictures and enjoy what Mother Nature has given to us to protect and share. Then return and carve the images I will have on film as well as in my mind into wood. “The last frontier,” is what my husband would say. I would agree with him.
Here is my rendition of this picture. The gun has been custom carved and painted. I chose this large caliber of gun to put the moose carving on because in my mind you need a large caliber gun to bring down an animal of this size. Whether you choose to have your gun painted or left natural is up to you. Either way the end result is a beautiful, one of a kind artistic master piece. One you will be proud to own and display. I’m sure this gun will be hand down from generation to generations.
This gun as well as many others is for sale. I will have this gun with me at the Crossroads of the West Gun Show in Salt Lake City, Utah, this September 25, 26, 2010. Please come and look me up I would enjoy meeting and visiting with you. If you have a comment, please feel free to leave one below. I enjoy all the feed back I receive. Thanks and happy hunting! Deb
Gunstock Carving and Painting
Gunstock Carving and Painting
Gunstock carving and painting can be carved and either painted or left natural. It all depends on your tastes. As you can see the more paint on the gunstock the more detail there is and the gun becomes much more of an eye catcher. On the other hand, you might like the natural look of the wood showing through. Maybe you would like the gun painted but not as much as some. These are all options I can create for you on your own custom gunstock carving.
Wheather or not you would like your gunstock painted or left natural. I would enjoy creating and carving a beautiful work of art on your gunstock just for you! Please don’t forget that many of the guns listed here on my web site are for sale. Your comments are greatly appreciated, so feel free to leave them below. I look forward to hearing from you. Deb

I am scheduled to attend another gunstock carving class. This class is to teach more indepth knowledge of the anatomy of a horses body. The horses body is like so many other animals. The moose, deer, elk, etc. Structure is very imortant. Muscle placement, the way the skin lays over the muscles as well as the bones. With out this knowledge the animal you are carving will not look right. So, I am intent on learning everything I can so make my carvings more realistic and true to life.
The .300 mag is coming along very nicely. It is almost ready for the unveiling! Hope everyone survived the spring storm this week. We have received snow last night along with rain. Hopefully it will make up for the adiquite snow fall we did not receive this last winter. Thanks for coming to my web site. I hope you enjoyed yourself while you where here. Please feel free to leave your comments. It is always nice to see what others think of my carvings. Thanks again Deb

I am scheduled to attend a class that teaches the structure of an animal. The anatomy of the horse. This class will reinforce the knowledge I have of the bone structure, muscles structure, and how the skin lays over the body of the animals. The horse resembles many large animals. Like the elk, moose, and deer, to name a few. Without this knowledge, the animal to be carved, will not look appropriately shaped. This makes carving animals a delight. I am looking forward to also visiting with my friends at this class.
The .300 mag is coming along very nicely. It is almost ready for the unveiling! Thank you for your patience. I’m looking forward to beginning my next project. This gun will be a 6mm.
Please feel free to post your comments. I enjoy hearing your comments and finding out what you like about my work. Thanks again for visiting my web site. Deb
Ostrich Egg Carving
Ostrich Egg Carving
On this very special day, I would like to take the opportunity to tell all the mothers out there. Happy Mother’s Day. You are very special people who deserve a great deal of recognition. The ostrich egg carving I have pictured here is one I have carved for my mother. Carving an egg of any kind is very delicate work. Using to strong of a hand in carving eggs can and usually does result in a broken egg. Then you have to begin all over again. Still the challenge of completing an egg and creating a beautiful work of art is always there. Engraving the designs on eggs is very time consuming and tedious work. If you ever have the opportunity to watch this process, take it! You will not regret it. Read the rest of this entry »
